What you can get out of an #event when you are as awesome as Leslie Samuel

Isn’t it amazing to hear a motivational social story from Leslie Samuel on a Sunday in San Diego? This was after the three-day Social Media Marketing World event in San Diego. Meeting Leslie and hearing his story of how it changed his life was great. It inspired me. #SanDiego

Here’s what I wrote on my blog before taking off to San Diego for the event. What an amazing event it was: meeting new people, learning, getting books signed, and live streaming with the Meerkat together with Neal Schaffer at the hotel bar.

I got up on Sunday morning, looked out of the window of the Grand Hyatt, with a fantastic view from the 30th floor, and checked Twitter right afterward. This is when Leslie’s name caught my eyes in a tweet.

Leslie is the owner of Become a Blogger, which has opened new doors for him. Mike Stelzner – Founder and CEO of Social Media Examiner – invited Leslie to attend the Social Media Marketing World in 2014 which helped to strengthen the relationship, and Mike asked Leslie if he wanted to be a speaker at the next event. So Leslie’s first speech at the Social Media Marketing world 2015 was about “Advanced Blogging: 7 Ninja Tactics you may be missing”. So you can see, taking action and attending events can open up all kinds of interesting opportunities.

Leslie is now also the Senior Manager for the “Social Media Marketing Society” at Social Media Examiner. Now two doors have been opened for him.

These days, besides being active on Social Media, it’s important to attend events in your industry where people can engage with you in person. Exchanging knowledge or just having fun is what makes these events unforgettable. You never know hat you will get out of it. It changed Leslie’s life for good. I love this story because the use of Social Media and attending events changes lives in this world.
